English chameleon/songstress PJ Harvey has begun recording her ninth album as part of a public exhibition in cooperation with London’s Somerset House. In an effort to examine the process of record making, she’s allowing visitors to watch her and fellow musicians in action- along with producers Flood and John Parish- in an enclosed box constructed of both sound treatment and one-way mirrored glass. No performances, just creation process.

The exhibit, aptly titled Recording In Progress just kicked off January 16 and will end when Harvey and friends complete the album. Time-Out London has just reported that Somerset House has just released more tickets due to overwhelming demand. For those of you in the Chicago area who just experienced David Bowie Is at the MCA, you know what I mean. In the London area? The exhibit runs 1/16 through 2/14, and you can purchase tickets here.
