Aurora, IL label Lo-Fidelity Records has released Too Much World, the long-awaited album by Eric Matthews.

In 1994 Matthews debuted as one half of the band Cardinal (with singer-songwriter Richard Davies). Their self-titled album was at the forefront of the indie pop movement, and remains to this day a high-water mark of the genre. Eric followed up Cardinal’s success with the release of his solo debut, It’s Heavy In Here (which Lo-Fidelity recently reissued on limited edition vinyl), on Sub Pop records in 1995, which led to a second album on the label, The Lateness of the Hour (1997).

Since 1997, Matthews has continued a streak of critically acclaimed and thought-provoking orchestral pop records: Six Kinds of Passion Looking For An Exit (2005), Foundation Sounds (2006) and The Imagination Stage (2008), followed by albums with his bands Seinking Ships (2010), Cardinal’s second album Hymns (2012) and SheLoom’s The Baron of the Fjord (2015). He has also collaborated with a wide range of his peers including The Dandy Warhols and the late Elliot Smith.
