Blood Orange is going to drop new album Freetown Sound soon and we’re holding our breaths waiting for it. Dev Hynes wrote and produced the album himself and is excited to share it with the world.

“I have just finished making an album about my life, my upbringing, being black in England, being black in America… my movement to this country at the age of 21, the same age that my mother moved from Guyana to London, and my father from Sierra Leone to London,” Hynes said in a press release today. “Freetown Sound, the name of my album, is taken from Freetown where my father was born.”

Hynes went on to say that Freetown Sound will be an “unapologetically political” album about race, sexuality, religion, sex and sexism.
